VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Volunteer Requirements (Per Family)
Volunteers are essential for the Chapparal Shark swim team to function and to provide a good sporting experience for everyone. Meets are staffed completely by volunteers and it takes a minimum of 80 volunteers to run each meet. Each family is required to contribute volunteer time (no exceptions) and is asked to sign up for a minimum of 7 volunteer shifts.
There are numerous ways to contribute, not all of which require you to attend a meet. We realize that some families have small children they need to attend to during the meets, and know that there are volunteer opportunities available during the week and at each of our social functions as well as during each swim meet. These positions fill fast and are given to families that need the flexibility first. If you are one of these families with special circumstances, you will need to sign up for the Special Needs Volunteer shifts for the weeks you are available and work with the Volunteer Coordination team to get your shifts in.
Our on-line registration and Volunteer sign-up went so well last year that we are continuing with the same process and with some improvements. When you register your swimmer(s), you will be asked to select a minimum of 7 volunteer positions and may sign up to as much as 2 shifts per meet. The actual shifts will be assigned at a later time.

Co-Chair Positions
If you are looking for an opportunity to get a little bit more involved, we have several Co-Chair Opportunities available. If you do become a Co-Chair, your family volunteer shift requirements are reduced to 5 shifts instead of 7. See the 2009 Co-Chair Team and Job descriptions for more details and possible openings.
New Co-Chair Opportunities for 2009
If you are looking to get a little bit more involved and/or a way to supplement you volunteer shifts, we have several new Co-Chair available for 2009. If you are a Co-Chair, your Volunteer shift requirement is reduced from 7 shifts down to 5 shifts.
